Hi! I’m Sheila, the gal behind Practigal Blog.
I started this blog with the intention of helping others simplify their lives…so that they have time for what really matters to them. Simplify. Organize. Prioritize. In that order. I’m all about living simply and minimally because it causes me SO much less stress and allows me to live life to the full! (If you are just getting started on your journey to live simply, START HERE).
I’m also the type of girl who would love to get a vacuum for Christmas…or a kitchen mixer…or a planner. No fancy jewelry for me. That’s how my husband and I came up with the name “Practigal”, actually!
I like finding ways to make my life easier and more fulfilling. The one thing I hate FAR MORE than a dirty house (actually, I’ve come to accept this with three children and a dog) is a cluttered house. So, I’m constantly evaluating what we own and throwing out what isn’t necessary. My husband told me recently how much he appreciates this. But I’m not sure how he would feel if I started throwing out his things!
My three kiddos help me remember that the MOST important things in life are relationships. When I’m busy trying to make the house look perfect or smell perfect or sound perfect (cue screaming little girls), my kids interrupt to ask me to play with them, talk with them or let them help me. I try not to get annoyed at all of the interruptions that having kids brings. I’ve learned to simplify and prioritize so that I always have time for the people in my life.
And speaking of relationships, the most important one for me is the one I have with God. I know this will turn some people off, but this is just me being honest about who I am. I am working on better prioritizing my relationship with God, because I know that when I do, I always see great things happen in my other relationships and heart as well. Just like any close relationship, it is simultaneously effortless and a lot of work. By that I mean we have a natural connection and strong bond, but if I don’t do anything to nurture the relationship, it suffers. I need to keep in communication, I need to invest, I need to love.
Besides all of this, I am a shy girl…and an introvert. I am not an expert on being an introvert, but I am an expert on being me, and I like to share my struggles and experiences with others. Statistically, over half of the population considers themselves shy to some degree, so I know I’m not alone! I am growing and learning to accept my shyness as strength. As I go through that process, I’ll share what I’m learning with you so that you can grow right alongside me.
Relationships are hard. Life is hard. And it’s busy too. I encourage everyone to simplify their lifestyle, their home, and their schedule, SO THAT we can have the time to prioritize what matters. I hope that through my blog, you can find many practical tips for simplifying your life and growing your relationships!
